John Hurley is Chief Executive Officer of the Mater Private Network, one of Ireland’s leading private healthcare providers. A qualified cardiac surgeon by training, he brings a unique combination of clinical expertise and executive leadership developed over more than three decades in healthcare. Prior to his appointment as CEO in 2014, he spent 19 years as a Cardiac Surgery Consultant at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, including involvement in Ireland’s national cardiac surgery and transplant services. As CEO, John has overseen the continued growth and development of Mater Private Network, with a strong focus on clinical quality, innovation, digital transformation and patient-centred care. He is passionate about building integrated healthcare services and leveraging technology to improve patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.

John has also held a number of influential leadership roles across the Irish healthcare sector, including Chair of the Irish Private Hospital Association and board positions with the National Office of Clinical Audit (NOCA), the National Clinical Effectiveness Committee and Cúram.
